BathurstSCAN.com (David) is dedicating this page for the loss of a special friend of mine and the whole Radio Scanning community… Lee Norrish Passed away last night 15/8 suddenly.. Condolences to his wife Melanie , also Families of Lees and Mels
Since his early twenties, Lee Norrish has been a dynamo in radio communications, both voice systems and data technology, and early on secured the major contract to supply and fit race cars with voice and data communications equipment for the prestigious Bathurst 1000 Motor Race at Mt Panorama, Bathurst NSW, held annually.
Lee’s drive and enthusiasm won the respect of those who dealt with him, from drivers, backup crews, race engineers, and course officials, to tv producers and directors involved with the race, through to law enforcement personnel, and others directly involved with Bathurst from the motor racing fraternity. He sucessfully bid to supply and fit radio communications gear to the World Rally Team, the Coulthard Formula 1 Team, the Samboy V8 Ute race Team, Mark Skaife, and many many more.
Lee’s highly successful and vibrant company was also involved heavily in the wider world of radio communications, supplying equipment and services to all kinds of industries with a need to communicate efficiently. His company, Metwide Communications, was closely linked with another communications icon company in Australia, Mastercom, and he also had many dealings with the communications giant Motorola Communications.
Lee Norrish sadly passed away as a result of a heart attack. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. We all extend our sincere condolences to Lee’s young wife of just 15 Months, for her immense loss. We can only imagine what she is going through.
Rest in Peace Lee.
